Arrest of ex-judge ordered in case of Sol y Playa condominium

Judge Abid Quiñones Portalatín ordered on Monday the imprisonment of María Isabel Negrón García, former judge and president of the Board of Owners of the Sol y Playa Condominium in Rincón, for not complying with a sentence that requires demolitions in the recreational area.

“The last straw broke the camel’s back and I cannot allow this sentence to continue to be delayed,” Quiñones Portalatín stated during the court hearing.

“I am going to declare the president of the Sol y Playa condominium in contempt. Once the demolition is completed, the court will order their release,” the judge said.

Negrón García said that he tried to achieve the demolition process, however, a contractor had not been able to take over the work.

Additionally, before sentencing, Negrón García tried to resign his position to avoid jail time, without success.
