Asus will also bring its Steam Deck alternative ROG Ally to Germany in the coming weeks. The Taiwanese manufacturer is teaming up with AMD and Microsoft to put together an attractive hardware package – we can now provide information on the price in Europe.

The Asus ROG Ally starts at $599 in the US, with the more powerful version with the new AMD Z1 Extreme octa-core APU and 512 gigabytes of SSD storage starting at $699 there. In this country, as is so often the case, customers have to dig a little deeper into their pockets.
ASUS ROG Ally

According to retail information we have, the Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming PC will retail in Europe for €799. This pricing is for the pricier edition mentioned above, which packs the more powerful version of AMD’s new portable gaming PC platform. It is specifically the RC71L model of the ROG Ally.

As in the United States, the stronger version will also be available here first, before the weaker and therefore slightly cheaper version is likely to follow at a later date. That’s why we don’t have any information on the entry-level price yet, since the cheaper edition of the ROG Ally will also be available later in this country.

Fight price is not a fight price in Germany

In terms of price, with the ROG Ally in the more expensive version for 799 euros, Asus is not nearly as good compared to the Steam Deck from Valve, unlike in the USA. The gaming handheld with the Linux operating system and AMD CPU from Valve costs a maximum of 679 euros in this country, even in the most expensive version. As is so often the case, the reason for the higher euro price is likely to be the taxes and duties due in this country. After all, the customer gets an impressively powerful compact package of gaming-capable hardware for just under 800 euros, even in Europe. The Asus ROG Ally has a 7-inch Full HD display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz and a maximum brightness of 500 candelas.

Depending on the variant, the device contains a hexa- or octa-core CPU with a speed of up to 5.0 or 5.1 gigahertz, with an AMD RDNA3 GPU with four or 12 compute units also being accommodated in the same package. There is always 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256 or 512GB of PCIe4 SSD. Power is supplied by a 40Wh battery. If you need more than the integrated graphics power, you can use a maximum of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 with a proprietary GPU dock that Asus offers as an accessory.

The Asus ROG Ally will be officially launched on May 11, 2023. It should be available from mid-June.
