Although it is a completely new type of vehicle for Audi, the German company will be able to exploit it technologies and platforms of the Volkswagen Group, although to date there does not seem to be a suitable platform to accommodate this off-road vehicle: Lichte said that Audi’s electric off-road vehicle will not be based on the PPE platform – the one developed in collaboration between Audi and Porsche – and it will not be the case for the Ford platform either which Volkswagen uses for its Amarok. The most sensible hypothesis, to date, is that Audi decides to use a platform that the group is developing ad hoc for branded SUVs and pick-ups Scouts to be marketed on the American territory, where the demand for off-road vehicles is higher than in Europe.
Finally, the knot of production remains to be unravelled, and it is unlikely that Audi will decide to dedicate a production line to a vehicle which, at least initially, will be produced in small volumes: the first information tells us of a collaboration with Magna, a company which will already in the production of Scout-branded vehicles for the United States and which could also take over the production of Audi’s new electric off-road vehicles.
The first information tells us about a possible marketing in 2027 but for the moment nothing has been definitively announced yet.
