“It’s a very large avalanche on a busy route at this time of year”, says Dorian Labaeye. The avalanche danger was only “2 out of 5” according to Météo France forecasts. The president of the national union of mountain guides cannot explain such a tragedy “in good conditions”.

While “tens of thousands of ski tourers” are currently in the Alps, Dorian Labaeye reminds us of the importance of leaving well prepared. According to him, there were no more victims because this group was equipped with an avalanche detector, but also with shovels and probes, “which facilitates the work of rescuers”.
