He Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI) is one of the most anticipated events in the film community. It is the opportunity to see the award-winning films in the latest editions of the most important festivals in the world and to see Argentine premieres and from multiple countries. It begins this Wednesday the 19th and will last until Monday the 1st of May. Like the previous edition, to federalize the meeting, there will be a platform on-line where you can see many of the movies.
The festival has three competitive sections: the International Competitionthe Argentine Competition and the Vanguard Competition and Gender. In each of them, shorts and longs compete equally for the prizes, regardless of their duration. In addition, there will be films grouped into thematic sections such as Music, Arts and Crafts, Comedies, Families, Growing Up, Places, Nocturnal, Passions, Politics, Trajectories and Horror.

The functions will be in the Avenida Corrientes area and the rooms that will have programming and activities will be San Martin Cultural Center (Sarmiento 1551) where the press office and the meeting point will also work; Cinema Lorca (Av. Corrientes 1428), Leopoldo Lugones Room (Av. Corrientes 1530), UBA Cosmos Cinema (Av. Corrientes 2046) and the complex arthouse (Bartolome Miter 434), Lavalle Monumental Multiplex Cinema (Lavalle 780), Gaumont Cinema (Av. Rivadavia 1635), French alliance (Av. Córdoba 946). In turn, it will have other rooms such as the Cinema Museum (Agustín R. Tickets
The functions will cost $300, for retirees and students it will cost $200 and there will be 2 for 1 for those who pay for tickets with Banco Ciudad debit or credit cards. They can be obtained at the ticket offices or in pre-sale on the festival website. In addition, there will be many free screenings.

Opening and Closing
The opening function takes place this Wednesday at the Monumental Multiplex Cinema Lavalle Room 1. As it happened in 2022, first an Argentine short film will be presented. The closing function will be on Friday, April 28 at 9:05 p.m. in the Gaumont Cinema (INCAA), the short film will be screened angel and pearl, by Jenni Merla and Denise Anzarut, a Buenos Aires comedy in which a 35-year-old real estate agent wants to have children, but believing that her partner does not want the same, she launches a crazy plan; and the feature film of Spanish origin I am a good person, by director Norberto Ramos del Val, a shameless and ferocious film in which Sabina, “the anti-heroine”, lives with and from her parents in her thirties, is another “artist”. that drags itself through a Madrid in perpetual crisis.

One of the characteristics of the festival is having the luxury of having films that will be screened for the first time, among which stand out: the Argentine at the end of the dayof Caroline Vergara (International Competition), where we will meet Isabel, a woman who cannot inhabit her reality. One day she, like so many others, receives a visit from Ana, a friend of hers who will help her make her wish come true. Also, she will introduce The Saintof John Augustine Carbonere (International Competition), which stars Rubén, a healer with a humble background, treats his patients with extravagant and disturbing healing techniques. In the Argentine Competition, he will debut on the big screen the vega clanof Jose Celestino Campusano which presents a story based on the criminal path of a fearsome nomadic family. Inspired by true facts, it portrays the vulnerability of people in the face of the ineffectiveness of State institutions.

The drive-in will be located in the former Boca Juniors Sports City, in the Costanera Sur area of Puerto Madero and will have functions on April 22 where they will screen Eternal Sea: Champions of America, with the presentation of its director Juan Baldana; and Sunday 23 will be the day for boys: at 3:00 p.m., My Neighbor Totoro, by Hayao Miyazaki, and at 6:00 p.m., Knights of the Zodiac: The Legend of the Sanctuary, by Keiichi Satō.
Special activities
As every year, the festival will not only be about projections, but there will be a place for different actions of all kinds that will have cinema as the protagonist. They will be with free admission and can be reserved on the festival website. The main ones will be: talk tribute to Maria Elena Walsh where different artists will dialogue with the writer’s work from a cinematographic perspective. Leonor Benedetto, Daniel Rosenfeld, Tamae Garateguy and M. Victoria Menis will participate. It will be moderated by Marisa Murgier and will be on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:45 p.m. at the San Martín Cultural Center.
On Saturday April 22 in the same space will be presented cinemasutrasthe first book of poems by the film director Ernest Baca. It is a book about the vision and the drawing of light in movement, about the cave, the edges, the dreams and the machines. On the cult, the spectator, the image and its ghosts. And about the cinema. Participating in the presentation: Irene Goldzer (actress), Pilar Boyle (actress), Osvaldo Vigna (poet), Isadora Barcelós (poet), Hernán (poet/ editor of Cae de Maduro. On Sunday, April 30, at 4:00 p.m., the American director Ira Sachs will give a master class on the San Martin Cultural Center.
