Among the items stolen, a safe, a bank card and a cello. At the crime scene, investigators discovered a sock, which was used as a glove by one of the criminals to avoid leaving fingerprints.

The police spent 16 months of meticulous research to catch the culprit. The task was not easy because the individual, known as Amar, was using no less than 21 different identities. Law enforcement had reported his names 28 times, a fact that speaks to the complexity of the investigation. Amar also had a well-stocked criminal record, which only accentuated the amp.eur of his criminal activity.

This clever burglar managed to evade the authorities for a long time thanks to his many identities. However, his sock ultimately betrayed his presence at the crime scene.

The verdict falls after 16 months of investigation

On May 9, 2023, after 16 months of investigation, the man responsible for the burglaries committed in Trappes was finally identified and tried. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison by tricourthouse of Versailles.

Although he asserted his innocence during the trial, the evidence against him was overwhelming. DNA taken from the sock matched that found in the 90-year-old victim. Despite his denials, he was convicted of both the burglaries and the use of false identities. In addition to his prison sentence, he received a permanent ban on staying on French territory once his sentence had been served.
