Step.– The Border Patrol has plans to deal with a possible increase in immigrants once the public health measure applied under Title 42 ends, said the head of the federal corporation of the El Paso Sector Anthony “Scott” Good, who took inauguration of office last at the end of March.

In interviews with reporters from various border outlets, he stated that agents have been applying this immigration policy to expel ineligible immigrants who cross the border illegally.

Good, who has held various positions within the federal agency and has accumulated experience in dealing with the southern border of the United States, announced that the corporation is ready to face a possible contingency. “We are ready for the end of Title 42,” he remarked.

“This is not the first time we have experienced high migration flows through the sector, and we continue to plan and, yes, I think we are ready for this job,” Chief “Scott” Good said.

As recently as Tuesday, a group of residents of the La Playa subdivision, a neighborhood adjacent to the border border, in the Lower Valley, had expressed their concern about the presence of dozens of migrants who have invaded and transferred their homes, but with these statements the residents trust that his words are true.

“Hopefully because the truth is that we are very anguished and very fearful that with the end of this public health measure we will be flooded when the border is open,” said one of the residents who has suffered from the problem in recent weeks.

However, the head of the El Paso Sector responded to this series of citizen concerns by stating that the illegal crossing of immigrants has occurred due to false rumors from the criminal groups themselves. “There is a lot of misinformation out there from smugglers and what is being posted on social media that everyone can be granted asylum and that is not the case,” the federal official said.

And it is that according to the head of the Border Patrol himself, living in a poor or dangerous country does not make all people susceptible to credible fear.

According to the authorities, there are various reasons why the asylum application can be denied, and it occurs when there is not enough evidence of being a victim of persecution or a credible fear.

In principle, the officer will conduct the credible fear interview and can determine whether or not to proceed. If the immigrant is rejected, they can appeal so that an immigration judge can do a second interview. If he is not satisfied, he can appeal to another government instance.

Regarding the increase in immigrants presented since the last two weeks and that have already begun to cause inconvenience among the population both in neighborhoods and in the downtown area, the leader of the Border Patrol in the El Paso Sector said that the agencies of the Department of Homeland Security, like the corporation it represents, maintains communication with the city and county of El Paso to prepare for such an increase.

“Some plans are already underway, while others are in process,” said the federal official after announcing some actions and strategies to be implemented in the near future.

Among these are the construction of a third immigrant processing center in northeast El Paso, which is expected to be ready by June of the year, as well as hiring data entry companies, food service providers and incorporating volunteers to provide childcare at the centers. The objective is that the border agents are not the ones who attend to these tasks but keep them in the field.

Another of the actions is to summon adjudicators from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services to make credible fear determinations for migrants in processing centers.

At the same time, use videoconferences with coordinators in the Northern Border sectors of the Border Patrol to interview migrants in custody.

Already, 200 civilian in-person processing coordinators have been added to the El Paso sector.

It also seeks to increase expedited Title 8 deportations of migrants who cannot legally justify their stay in the United States, including those who are between ports of entry trying to avoid detention. Another of the movements to be carried out is to increase repatriation flights to the countries of origin.

For Good, having enough personnel in the processing centers will speed up the migratory flow that arrives in the country. What is sought is to prevent these centers from becoming saturated in the face of a possible wave of applicants, as has happened in the past.

With the completion of the much talked about and questioned Title 42, foreigners without legal cause to remain in the United States will continue to be expelled through the longer Title 8 process, so it is false that with the completion of Title 42 it will not stop and expel a citizen who illegally enters the border, authorities said.

Immigrant advocates, however, insist that a refugee’s chances of obtaining asylum in the United States are significantly increased without an attorney. Most do not have access because they do not have the resources to hire them.

The new facility will be located on a 28-acre piece of land adjacent to the current processing center, located on US 54, and will include designated areas for migrants to consult remotely with legal counsel.

The Border Patrol noted that the Title 8 application has a serious legal application because the immigrant who is stopped crossing illegally can face trial, remain in jail or be deported and punished for five years for the first time or unable to cross legally. in the future.

The border is closed and always has been for all those who do not have a legal basis to remain in the United States. They will be placed in removal proceedings under Title 8 once the Trump-era public health measure ends, he told himself.

Since the beginning of this year and now the Department of Homeland Security -DHS- has reiterated that it continues preparations for the end of Title 42 with the implementation of new control measures at the border and more safe and orderly processes.
