Support for offshore wind and solar industries
Both the offshore wind and solar industries are calling for more political and economic support. The solar industry is campaigning for the upstream value chain to be brought back to Europe with appropriate subsidies. And the wind power industry makes it clear that the newly set expansion targets can only be achieved if politicians provide more support and, for example, make changes to the Wind Energy at Sea Act (WindSeeG). In addition to the industrial capacities, there was also a lack of corresponding port infrastructure and a significant increase in the supply of German shipyards for the construction of foundation structures, transformer and converter platforms or special ships for service, maintenance and construction.

UK Online Safety Bill
In Great Britain, those responsible for social networks are threatened with imprisonment if children and young people are not adequately protected on their platforms. The draft of the Online Safety Bill has now been expanded to include a corresponding requirement, reports the Guardian. It is therefore no longer planned that services such as Instagram and YouTube will also have to protect adults from content that is harmful but not illegal. Writing assistant DeepL Write
DeepL Write is a new feature of the translation tool that improves texts. Unlike complete text generators such as ChatGPT, the AI writing assistant does not create its own texts, but takes input sentences, paragraphs or entire articles and makes them “better” – at least in terms of grammar and spelling. In a test by heise online, the application actually found and corrected previously intentionally built-in errors and made good suggestions for wording.
Wyoming against electric cars
In Europe there is a lot of discussion about gradually stopping the sale of cars with combustion engines with the aim of greener mobility. Almost as a joke, there is a draft resolution by the Wyoming state legislature, according to which the sale of electric cars should be phased out by 2035. One of the goals of the resolution is to ensure the stability of Wyoming’s oil and gas industry, which has provided the state with countless jobs and revenues throughout its history.
