As recently as November, BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke was certain that there were only details left to negotiate when extending the contract with child prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko. Apparently, Moukoko and his advisors just wanted to wait until the new national player came of age with the negotiations.

Moukoko has been 18 since the World Cup in Qatar, but negotiations with BVB are dragging on. His contract expires in the summer and the international competition is hoping to be able to hire a top talent cheaply.
Kehl is hoping for an agreement by January 14
How “sports1” reported, Moukoko’s advisor Patrick Williams has now arrived at the BVB training camp to negotiate the details of the contract with sports director Sebastian Kehl. Kehl wants to finalize the deal by Saturday, when the training camp in Marbella, Spain, ends.

The Moukoko party had previously rejected a first offer from Borussia. According to “Sport1”, BVB is said to have offered him a basic salary of three million euros per bonus plus ten million euros. According to “Bild”, Moukoko is said to have been offered a salary of more than six million euros and the earnest money. Watzke and Kehl don’t actually want to pay more because of “salary hygiene”.

That’s legitimate, but it’s also legitimate that we have our ideas.” If these are no longer congruent, “then the cooperation will not be continued”clarified the BVB managing director.
The 18-year-old wants to stay at BVB, but hopes for more financially. Since Moukoko is free in the summer, numerous international clubs are currently hoping to be able to slide BVB into the contract extension: in recent months there have been reports of interest from Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The English “Evening Standard” recently reported that Newcastle United had verbally made the striker a mega offer: 30 million euros in earnest money, plus an annual salary of nine million euros.
