Capcom has many strings to its bow. The firm has a very large number of outstanding franchises and could well bring back one that has been missing for a while.

Resident Evil, Street Fighter or even Monster Hunter are currently the flagship licenses that have the right to all the attention. The first multiplies the projects, offered a DLC for RE: Village and will soon have the right to a new animated film.
The second franchise will return to the front of the stage this year with Street Fighter 6. A film is also in preparation according to the latest news. finally the last capitalizes as much as possible on Monster hunter Rise freshly released on PS5 and Xbox Series, and will soon have the right to an unexpected new game.
But Capcom’s portfolio includes other notable licenses, and one of them just might come back from the dead, literally.

A license with zombies like no other

This is Dead Rising, a horrifying and above all very funny survival game. A license that we have not seen since Dead Rising 4 in 2016, a game that, for many, should never have seen the light of day. So the question arises of the viability of a sequel, is it really useful? That, we don’t know, but according to Jez Corden, generally very well informed, something is going on at Capcom and Dead Rising could well put the cover back. In any case, this is what he says when responding to a Twitter user who talks about the franchise. Corden will however temper in the Twitter comments by saying that he hasn’t seen anything concrete, these are just rumors here. Reboot? Remake? Following ? Good question.

Dead Rising has come a long way

Dead Rising was launched in 2006 on Xbox 360 with a very successful first episode. It played Frank West, a journalist who found himself stuck in a gigantic shopping mall during an invasion of the living dead. He then had to survive several days while trying to get the scoop of the century. The game offered an exotic formula and great replayability. For the time, having several hundred zombies on the screen was even a real tour de force. A few years later, Dead Rising 2 will be released, which will be preceded by a small, unassuming spin-off serving as a prequel. Here, Frank is replaced by Chuck Greene, a father who participates in a reality show where he massacres zombies to be able to treat his sick daughter. Except that of course, things will quickly twist. Dead Rising 2 changes hero and landscape, but the formula remains the same. Frank West will return for his part in two spin-offs thereafter. Case : West et Off the Record.

Capcom got lost on the way, a possible return?

Later will also be released Dead Rising 3, exclusive to Xbox One (and PC) which, once again, will change heroes and environment. More than that, he is reviewing his gameplay for something more down-to-earth. The success is not amazing and Capcom ended up backtracking by calling on this dear Frank again in 2016 for a final episode. Except that there is the shipwreck. Too much to do Capcom is completely lost with its Dead Rising 4 and even sacrifices the good ideas that the series had, such as its colorful psychopaths for example. Today, the license is at a standstill and we have absolutely no news from it, except for a handful of visuals of an aborted project that appeared on the web a few weeks ago.

And you, for or against a return of Dead Rising on PS5, Xbox Series and PC?
