JavaGPT is an open-source extension that allows older Windows users to use the ChatGPT chatbot application through a Java GUI. It supports several features of ChatGPT, here they are.

Developer FrankCYB recently released an app called JavaGPT, which allows users to access ChatGPT, the popular chatbot, on older platforms. According to the developer, the app can run on older Windows operating systems such as Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 as well as modern Windows versions including Windows 10 and 11.

JavaGPT supports several ChatGPT features such as Chat Streaming which allows to generate responses in real time, Chat History which allows you to interact with previous chats, and Revert Chats which allows you to undo previous chat prompts and replies. JavaGPT also supports HTML viewer to display chat content in HTML format and automatically generate chat titles based on context.

The app supports saving chats and importing pre-made prompts, as well as dark mode and right-click copy-edit-paste. JavaGPT supports ChatGPT-4 and all ChatGPT 3.5 models. It also weighs only 6 MB.

The JavaGPT app is open-source, which means anyone can view and download the program code on GitHub. But the developer warns that JavaGPT is a third-party application that is not endorsed by OpenAI or Microsoft.

This extension of ChatGPT on older platforms is a nice addition for those who prefer to work on older platforms, or who haven’t updated their operating system yet.
