Chinese military and espionage equipment would have arrived in Cuba camouflaged as commercial cargo

China has Cuba for its projects of expansion and global dominance, said today in an opinion column in the influential newspaper “The Wall Street Journal”, Miles Yu, who was a political advisor and on Chinese issues to former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, between 2018 and 2021.

Yu revealed that the intelligence services of the United States have been monitoring and aware of China’s espionage operations in Cuban territory for more than 20 years.

The former official also assured that the shipment of weapons and sophisticated espionage equipment for listening and surveillance from Cuba has been done under the guise of shipments of commercial goods, through the Chinese shipping giant “Cosco”, which by the way, has nothing to do with the popular American supermarket chain “Costco”.

In recent weeks, “The Wall Street Journal” has published a series of reports on the existence of Chinese spy bases just over 90 miles from the United States and although the White House and the Pentagon initially denied it, the government later admitted that the information was true and that the Biden administration had an effective strategy to deal with it. Even Secretary of State Antony Blinken publicly declared that during his trip to China he had expressed to the Chinese ruler Xi Jinping the deep concern of the United States about Chinese military and intelligence activities on the island.

The joint espionage project between Havana and Beijing poses, according to Yu, a very serious national security problem, since its main target is Florida, where several strategic military installations are located, such as the Southern Command, located in Doral, in the Miami-Dade County, the Central Command and the Special Operations Command, the latter two in Tampa.
