The Catholic Church Mexican asked to attend to the children who were orphaned due to the covid-19 pandemic. He also warned about the educational gap and the increase in poverty due to this cause.

In his Sunday editorial From Faith, The Mexican episcopate specified that, according to the “Report on the family Mexico 2022: Challenges and transformations in the key of hope”, carried out by the Center for Family, Bioethics and Society Studies of the Pontifical University of Mexico, 131 thousand 325 Mexican children were orphaned due to the pandemic.

“The outlook is not easy. If care is not taken promptly and seriously, we are talking about more than 130,000 children who are in risk of emotional, physical and social abandonment“, he claimed.

As we have mentioned in other informative notes of The Truth NewsAccording to the latest data from the federal Ministry of Health, so far, the COVID-19 pandemic accumulates in Mexico more than 7.38 million cases and exceeds 332,000 deaths.

Likewise, the Church said that it is a priority to work on strengthening families in all their structures because “the family continues to be the most important institution that exists, particularly in moments of emotional crisis, illness or insecurity.”

For this reason, he called on governments and society “to take care of that great treasure that is the family, to work to strengthen it and prevent it from falling into abandonment.”

He also asked citizens to take responsibility for their role within the family, particularly, he emphasized, in the care and training of children, adolescents and young people “because they are the ones who need us the most. Ignoring this obligation contributes to the loss of values, and therefore, to a violent country”.

He recalled that the Archdiocese of Mexico has carried out work to strengthen the family, such as instituting Family Month in March.
