The United States and China are the main candidates to dominate Paris 2024

PARS.- Two days after the inauguration of the Paris Gamesfans are betting that the ceremony will be the opportunity to attend the return of Cline Dion to the stages, or of Lady Gagathat of seeing the Dua Lipaimmersed in a huge world tour…?

The show, which will last around 3 hours and 45 minutes, is planned to run along the River Seine for six kilometres, a first in the history of the Games, which are normally inaugurated in a stadium.

The artistic director is Thomas Jolly, a French artist accustomed to large-scale productions and a fan of pop music.

The public especially remembers the vibrant 2012 ceremony in London, an ideal setting for pop stars and a time of excitement and fun, with Queen Elizabeth II as a guest in a fun video with James Bond (Daniel Craig).

Jolly has reiterated that nothing (or anyone) is prohibited as long as there is a connection with France.

Canadian singer Cline Dion is an obvious connection.

“We have promised a great show”

“Dion is in Paris, it is not a coincidence,” admitted the Minister of Sport and Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amlie Ouda-Castra, on Wednesday.

“We have promised a great show, with big stars,” he added.

Dion is more than a star in France, a country with which she has a strong bond thanks to French and hits like the album Two (1995), written by hitmaker Jean-Jacques Goldman.

The 56-year-old Quebec diva has not sung live since March 2020, due to the global health crisis and the revelation that she suffers from stiff person syndrome (SPS), an autoimmune disease with no known cure.

Dion was filmed by fans outside her Parisian hotel and by bodyguards carrying Olympic accreditation.

Lady Gaga’s fans, whom she calls her little monsters (little monsters), they like to remember that they interpreted, in French, La vie en roseclassic by Edith Piaf, en A Star is Born (2018), directed by actor Bradley Cooper.

Fans of the 38-year-old American are even convinced that it is she, hidden under a futuristic hood, in a brief preview of the opening ceremony broadcast on French television. She was also filmed by her fans in recent days waving to the crowd in front of her luxury hotel in Paris.

Kosovar-born Briton Dua Lipa was mentioned as another possible contestant during her stop in Paris in March, but she is currently on a world tour and has not been seen in public in the French capital.

Dua Lipa’s latest music video, Illusion, It was filmed at the Montjuïc Olympic swimming pool in Barcelona and featured the collaboration of part of the Spanish synchronized swimming team.

“Racists”

Less known abroad but with great symbolism in France is the Franco-Malian Aya Nakamura.

This 29-year-old has chained hits like Djadja, and controversies with some far-right groups.

An identity group posted on social media a photo of a banner displayed on the banks of the Seine, proclaiming: “This is Paris, not the Bamako market!”

Aya Nakamura responded to her detractors on social media, calling them racist. “I become a state topic number 1 and that’s what hurts them,” she wrote.

The controversy helped promote Nakamura, and the video of Djadja (2018) now reaches 970 million views on YouTube.
