Colombia announces visit of Prince Harry and Meghan in August

BOGOTA.- The vice president of Colombia, Francia Márquez announced today – August 1 – the visit to the country of the prince Harry and his wife, the Duchess Meghan Markle, in August, although no specific dates have been given.

“They will accompany me on visits to Bogotá, the Pacific region, the Caribbean region, Cartagena and Cali, respectively,” said the vice president and also Minister of Equality and Equity in a statement.

“The family’s journey precedes the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence Against Children, which will take place in Colombia next November,” the official added.

A ministry official told AFP the visit would take place in mid-August, without giving further details.

Harry and Meghan’s planned activities

The couple, who severed ties with the British monarchy in 2020 and now reside in California, will take part in several activities related to the forum where cyberbullying, online exploitation and the impact of these threats on mental health will be discussed, according to the bulletin.

In the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex created Archewell, a production company and philanthropic foundation, which, according to the Colombian vice-presidency, advocates for the promotion of safer digital environments.

The son of King Charles III has had a distant relationship with the royal family since his departure from the United Kingdom with his wife.
