The contest

The contest has already opened applications and it is expected that at least 20 young women will be the finalists to compete for the place in the Miss Universe.

Candidates must be between 18 and 28 years old, and be Cuban by birth or naturalized.

“It’s your time to shine! The Miss Universe Cuba Organization invites you to register and become the next ambassador of Cuban beauty on the Miss Universe stage. As part of the prestigious pageant, you will have the opportunity to represent Cuba to the world and show your grace, elegance and talent,” adds the official page of Miss Universe Cuba.

The applicants will have a three-month preparation process, in which they will strengthen their skills in catwalk, public speaking, photography and will select social projects. All these skills will be key on the night of the selection of the Cuban queen.

Regarding the incorporation of Prince Julio César, the organizers confirmed that the Venezuelan will remain at the head of the contest between 2024 and 2026.

“With his vast experience in show business and his passion for empowering women, Prince Julio Cesar is ready to lead the way to a new chapter of success and celebration for Cuba in the prestigious beauty pageant.”

The designer also shared on Instagram his excitement at being part of this milestone in the history of Cuba.

“Cuba says present and the limit now is the Universe. Soon we will give all the details about applications, casting, activity and final event and rest assured, all the candidates will be CUBAN and will be able to come and participate from any continent. We are ready to start !”, he wrote.

The island’s return to Miss Universe is an important step.

In 1960, Fidel Castro banned the contest under the premise that it promoted frivolity in society and the bourgeoisie. However, Cuban models based in Miami participated in the pageant between 1961 and 1967 under the name Miss Cuba Libre.

But since that date, Cuba had not appeared in the competition again.
