Cristóbal Martell, the famous lawyer of Lionel Messi that Dani Alves hired to save him from jail, exposed an unusual reason why his defendant fell into so many contradictions when giving his version in the case of sexual assault that followed him.

The footballer has generated more controversy by changing the chronology of the events up to three times during a 45-minute interrogation, after which the Spanish justice decided to send him to preventive detention without bail. Currently, the ex-Barcelona is being held in the Brians 2 prison, in Barcelona.

WHY DID DANI ALVES TELL LIES DURING HIS STATEMENT, ACCORDING TO HIS LAWYER?

Martell gave an interview to the RTVE program ‘Hablando Claro’ in which he assured that Alves lied because “he was afraid of revealing in public that he had been unfaithful to his wife”, Spanish model Joana Sanz.

Sanz recently lost his mother, but when Alves’ arrest became known, he gave him his full support with a post on Instagram. Last Thursday, he deleted all the publications related to his ex-partner today.

The lawyer indicated that he will look for an appeal that allows Dani Alves to have provisional freedom and guaranteed that he will give his statement of the facts as many times as necessary.

Spanish media pointed out that Alves was “deceived” by the Barcelona authorities so that he did not flee the country after learning the seriousness of his accusation. The then Pumas player had arrived due to the death of his mother-in-law.

WHAT WERE THE LIES OF DANI ALVES BEFORE THE JUSTICE?

In the first instance, Dani Alves said he did not know the 23-year-old woman who accused him of rape, but later admitted having been with her, although he clarified that they had no contact. When the evidence was presented to him, he confessed that he had had sexual relations. He assured that these were with consent.

Subsequently, Alves was haughty before the Catalan judge, who asked him how much he earned in Pumas de México to find out if there was a risk of flight. The soccer player said that he received 30,000 euros a month, but when the magistrate showed him the contract he admitted that he earned 300,000.

The victim’s evidence, such as her torn dress, the medical report and the testimony of two companions and the nightclub staff, sank the Brazilian.
