Battlefield 2042 was a disaster for the brand, and while Dice is working hard to regain the trust of fans with content updates, rumor has it that they have already started working on the next installment in the series.
And that makes sense, because for publisher EA it’s insanely important that the Battlefield series continues to flourish. During their latest financial review (via The Motley Fool) says Andrew Wilson that the series is crucial to their future:
“I had a call this morning with some of the leadership, and they’re very bullish on how that’s progressing. I think we’ve got extraordinary confidence in that team and extraordinary confidence in the progress they’re making against the future of that franchise. And I come back to we’re not just building a game. We’re building a platform, content as a platform, to drive live services over the decades to come.”
However, it sounds like Battlefield will remain a “platformer”.
