This Sunday, starting at 8 in the morning, the Argentines of Misiones, La Rioja and Jujuy will vote to elect their new governors. The three districts represent 5% of the national census.

In Misiones, in addition, they will elect 20 provincial deputies and 73 mayors. The Frente Renovador de la Concordia has been the government elected for twenty years, which will seek to extend its mandate.

The ruling party’s candidate is Hugo Passalacqua while his vice-president is Lucas Romero Spinelli. Oscar Herrera Ahuad, current governor, will be a candidate for national deputy.

Together for Change will seek to go down to the ruling party with Martín Arjol (UCR) and Natalia Dôpler (PRO) at the helm. The front of Fuerza de Todos will have Isaac Lenguaza and Santiago Mansilla.

The Partido Obrero will go with Virginia Villanueva and Eduardo Cantero. The Integration and Militancy party, referenced in Javier Milei at the national level, withdrew from the candidacy at the last moment.

The Rioja

In the province of La Rioja, close to 300,000 citizens will vote this Sunday, where, in addition to the governor, 18 mayors, councilors and 36 conventional constituents will be elected to reform the provincial constitution.

Ricardo Quintela, of the Frente de Todos, is committed to re-election and is directly facing Felipe Álvarez, current national deputy of Together for Change. Martín Menem, nephew of the former president, will go for the election behind the column of Javier Milei.

The other formulas that will seek to become governor are that of Fuerza Liberal, made up of Cristian Corzo and Edgardo Escobar; the Left Front with Carolina Goycochea and Domingo Vedia; and the La Rioja Front with Mario Olmedo and José Dum.

Jujuy

In the northern province, Gerardo Morales, current governor, supported the candidacy of Carlos Sadir, current Minister of Finance. 28 mayors, councilors and constituents for the reform of the Magna Carta will also be renewed.

The local opposition will go to the polls with Peronism divided into two lists. On the one hand, the Justicialista Front will present the provincial deputy and president of the local PJ, Rubén Rivarola, while on the other, the candidate of the Unity Front for Jujuy will be the provincial deputy Juan Cardozo Traillou. It should be noted that both spaces are referenced at the national level with the Frente de Todos.

The Left Front and Workers Unity (FIT-U) will compete for the governorship with the formula headed by the national deputy Alejandro Vilca accompanied by Betina Rivero. While the Jujuy Tiene Futuro Front, a sector of local Peronism, will present former university rector Rodolfo Tecchi, while the VIA + Libertarios Front will take Cecilia García Casasco as its candidate and the Política Obrera party will take Iñaki Aldasoro.

The elections advance

Days ago, Neuquén and Río Negro renewed authorities. After this Sunday, where Jujuy, La Rioja and Misiones will do it, next Sunday, May 14, the citizens of La Pampa, Salta, San Juan, Tucumán and Tierra del Fuego will go to the elections.

At the national level, the PASO elections will be on August 13 while the general ones will be on October 22.
