Eminem's album dethrones Taylor Swift's on Billboard 200 chart

The twelfth studio album of Eminem, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grce)debut at number one on the chart Billboard 200, beating the The Tortured Poets Department, of Taylor Swift after 12 weeks.

In its first week, The Tortured Poets Department reached 891.34 million views in the United States, according to Luminate, the week of streaming biggest for an album in history.

Swift’s album debuted at number one in April and held the top spot for three months. She is the only woman to have achieved this feat. Swift broke the previous record held by Whitney Houston’s album, Whitneywhich spent its first 11 weeks at No. 1 in 1987.

The Tortured Poets Department tied with Morgan Wallen’s 2023 album One Thing at a Timewhich also debuted at number one and remained there for 12 consecutive weeks. Wallen’s album would later return to the top spot, spending 19 weeks in total at No. 1.

The only album to surpass them so far is Stevie Wonder’s 1976 masterpiece, Songs in the Key of Life which spent 13 weeks at No. 1 after debuting at number one. The album spent 14 weeks there in total.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grce) is Eminem’s eleventh No. 1 album. The Tortured Poets Department fell to number four as a result. In second place is Romance:Untold from the K-pop band Enhyphen and The Great American Bar Scene, by Zach Bryan, is at number three.
