Last February, TF1 kicked off the 12th season of The Voice. During the second night of the blind auditions, on Saturday March 4, a candidate captivated the jury with his performance. It is Max Novika young man of 21 who, to devote himself fully to his passion, did not hesitate to “let go” his studies, as he confided in his portrait. He interpreted the title Creep from Radiohead, turning around first Amelia Bent, then the other coaches. After an ovation from the public, the talent chose to join the team of Zazie. This Saturday, April 22, he returned to the competition for the second evening of the battles where he was confronted with Esmee. Max Novik (The Voice) : “With Esme, we have a brother and sister relationship”
Tele-Leisure : How did you react when you learned that you were going to face Esme for this second evening of battles?

Max Novik : After filming the blind auditions, we ran into each other in the hallways. We hugged each other because we were happy to be part of the same team, she’s my best friend this season. The first thing she said to me was, ‘I hope above all that I won’t be in battle with you’. It missed !
Was there any disappointment?
Max Novik : To begin with, there was fear and then disappointment because we are close and complicit. But we were also very happy because we knew that the duo would be deadly. There is the connection, the complicity, we like each other. From there, it can only go well.
You were very close during rehearsals. What links have you forged in this adventure?
Max Novik : A brother and sister relationship. We’re the same age, but I’ve always said I consider her my little sister. We kind of want to protect our little sisters. I always had this approach with her, even if she doesn’t necessarily need protection because she has a big character and a great temper, that she can defend herself on her own. I felt that as I got to know her and talked to her a bit over the weeks we were together.

Zazie pointed out that you passed”your time“to reassure her. Esme also said you had it”a lot a lot“helped. What was stressing her so much?
Max Novik : I do not know. We have the same musical sensibility. Maybe vocally, I sang louder than her. Maybe that’s what unsettled her. We didn’t really talk about fear, we just talked a lot about the fact that we are, despite everything, happy to be together.
Did she confide in you about her illness?
Max Novik : We didn’t talk a lot about that, we tried to ignore it a bit. We rubbed shoulders at the hotel for weeks and no one calculated that anymore, we were used to it. It is something that she assumes 100%. She doesn’t necessarily need to confide in that aspect of of illness.

Once on the scene of The VoiceHow did you feel ?
Max Novik : I was fine, less stressed than during my blind audition. When Nikos Aliagas called us, we had a feeling with Esme. We knew we were going to pass now. During filming, we had taken a little break and when we came back to the set, we looked at each other and said to ourselves: ‘We are not going to the top of the bleachers, we are staying down because I feel that it is going well. to be ours. We saw the cameras coming towards us, then Nikos Aliagas sent us on stage. It was very funny.

Did Zazie’s presence on stage change anything for you?
Max Novik : I had been instructed by the director to stay focused. The staging had to happen with Esme, I was really focused on that. I think it changed something more for the coaches, since they were doing things internally on set. It didn’t bother me too much.
Bigflo and Oli said of your battle that it was in the top 3 of the best performances, what do you think?
Max Novik : After the performance of the battles, it made me like after my performance of the blind auditions: bam, black hole! I only remember Zazie’s speech at the end. It proves to me once again that the duo has been successful in terms of connection, even perhaps performance, so it’s nice. Mission accomplished !
Zazie had tears in her eyes choosing you. What is going through your head at that moment?
Max Novik : We screened what we wanted to show and we were super happy. At the end of the battle, we looked at each other and we were super happy with what we had just done. Overall it was great.

You were affected by the elimination of Esme, who was not saved by another coach…
Max Novik : When I left the set, I was hoping to hear this famous buzz that I didn’t hear. After the performance and even during, I showed a side of me that I had never shown, even to my loved ones. The fact of having been a little moved, these are not necessarily things that I show automatically.
How did you react to your victory?
Max Novik : I had a mixed feeling at the time of the result. I was happy, but I couldn’t be too happy either.
Why did you want to participate in The Voice ?
Max Novik : Like many others in this season this year, I am a songwriter, I make my songs. I thought it was a great opportunity.
Your blind audition was unanimous with the coaches, especially with Amel Bent. For her, you made “the most beautiful blind audition since the beginning“… What do you think ?

Max Novik : I did not remember much from the comments after my blind audition, I was a little stunned, like I had a baseball bat in the back of my neck. On the other hand, this sentence, it woke me up a little. It freaked me out, even down to the moment of choosing.
