IIntegrated in the second edition of the cycle of exhibitions and conversations ‘Drawing as Thought’, the show, at the Exhibition Space of the Águeda Arts Center, is curated by Ana Anacleto, who selected works by artists such as Alice Geirinhas, Bruno Cidra and Sara Bichão .

Open until September 30, with free admission, the exhibition also includes drawings, among other artists, by Ana Jotta, Daniel Fernandes, Catarina Lopes Vicente, Jorge Queiroz, Francisca Carvalho, Noé Sendas, Rui Horta Pereira, Claudia Guerreiro and Horácio Frutuoso.

In this exhibition, drawing is understood in its wider territory, embracing other dimensions of its expression such as graphic, photographic or moving images, and even sculpture and installation.

Based on an understanding of “drawing as a verb — the act of drawing — and its procedural particularities”, the curator proposes a group exhibition that aims to “investigate the conditions of invisibility inherent in the construction of the drawing process and the how these can shape not only the process, but also, invariably, its result”, indicates a synopsis by Ana Anacleto.

“Drawing is permanently establishing a relationship with the unknown, with what has not yet been drawn, with what is yet to come. Trying to unveil its contours, imagining it, trying to touch it simultaneously”, stresses the curator, degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate degree in Curatorial Studies from the same institution.

In its 2nd edition, the cycle ‘Drawing as Thought’ has been presenting, since the 14th of January, its program in Águeda, Albergaria-a-Velha and at the University of Aveiro.

In Águeda, this cycle, which has the artistic direction of Alexandre Baptista until September 30, includes 18 individual exhibitions, this group exhibition and six thematic conversations, according to the programme.

The exhibition ‘See in the dark’ opens on Saturday, at 5 pm, in the Exhibition Space of the Arts Center of Águeda.
