In the San Fernando Valley, the FBI and other federal agencies on Thursday served a search warrant at a Reseda home that mobilized explosives experts.
The FBI, which is in charge of this investigation, has given few details about the operation, it is only known that the focus of the operation was something considered dangerous and worrying. For this reason, they requested the assistance of two federal agencies and the Los Angeles police.
Neighbors on the 7500 block of White Oak Avenue in Reseda say it was after 6 am when a loud noise woke them up.
“(It was heard) like explosions, two, like bullets, but loud, louder, well,” said Juventino Ruiz, a resident of the area.
According to the FBI, federal agents served a search warrant at a home in connection with an ongoing investigation. Bomb experts were mobilized to the scene after finding artifacts that included possibly explosive materials.
“They look like chemicals, but I really don’t know,” Ruiz said.
“It’s something you never expect, you don’t expect things to happen in your neighborhood,” said Miguel López, a resident of the area.
For more than six hours, investigators cordoned off the Reseda neighborhood and barred vehicles from entering and leaving, while explosives experts determined whether a threat to public safety existed.
“That’s scary, because you don’t know the neighbors, but the really good thing is that it was on the sidewalk on the other side of my house, I hope they dismantled that,” said Rosy Lee, a resident of the area.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the DEA and the Los Angeles Police Department assisted the FBI during the operation.
A neighbor said a man and a woman got out of a mobile home on the property with their hands up, and officers later tied their hands and feet.
Despite the fact that everything is operating normally in this neighborhood, many questions remain, such as what kind of possible explosives the authorities found and who is responsible.
