Fair Prices could fall if the Government keeps Truckers at the controls

The businessmen who signed the agreement with the Government Fair Prices show their discomfort with the controls carried out by the truckers union requested by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, and the Secretary of Domestic Trade, Matías Tombolini.

The private sector assures that they were called to “put their shoulders” and they did so, “even when it means loss for us.” Furthermore, they argue that they trusted the government and the answer “is distrust”, angry at the administration’s endorsement of the Teamsters Union’s initiative to go out and control compliance with the Program Prices fair.

Pablo Moyano, head of the Truckers Guild.

The tension between the Government and the private sector arises at the moment in which the Ministry commanded by Sergio Massa is negotiating to agree on an extension of the Program until the end of the year. And the straw that could break the camel’s back is that now added to the controls prices in the gondolas the Barrios de Pie Organization with the leader Daniel Menéndez at the head, who is also an official of the Executive Power.

Sergio Massa downplayed the issue and maintained that the union “does not control, but joins the information process”an affirmation that the same union was in charge of denying when Pablo Moyano, in a statement from Truckers, maintained that they began “a joint work with the Secretary of Commerce to carry out controls in the different distribution centers”.

Truckers controls compliance with the Fair Prices Program.

The businessmen maintain that the president is the one who should put a brake on the head of Truckers and perhaps it will be a condition to sign the extension of the Program, although they do not trust that it will do so. Meanwhile, Moyano added fuel to the fire by assuring that “the businessmen channel the merchandise and then mark the prices.”
