The last generation was unique in that both Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles received major upgrades at halftime with the Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, this to be able to compete with PC. The Playstation 4 Pro was actually launched barely three years after the launch of the Playstation 4, and the fact is that the Playstation 5 turns three in late 2023.
If Sony follows the same pattern, it means we can possibly look forward to a hardware upgrade this year. But… will they? Rumors claim that Sony does indeed have a new hardware revision in the works this year, but that it won’t be more powerful and will instead feature a removable drive rather than a built-in one (or none at all).
Now trusted journalist and insider Tom Henderson has spoken about all of this, and he doesn’t think there will be a Playstation 5 Pro, saying on Twitter that he’s actually heard more about the Playstation 6:
