In a convulsed end of the year and with several departures, President Alberto Fernández made official the departure of Félix Crous from the Anti-Corruption Office on the last business day of 2022. The decision was published this Friday in the Official Gazette.

“It is accepted, as of January 1, 2023, the resignation presented by Dr. Félix Pablo CROUS (DNI N° 17.760.152) to the position of Head of the ANTICORRUPTION OFFICE, decentralized body of the PRESIDENCY OF THE NATION”, establishes Decree 878/2022, signed by the president and his chief of staff, Juan Manzur.

Crous had taken office in December 2019, after the arrival of the Frente de Todos to power.

Member and founder of the Kirchnerist Justicia Légitima group, he had served as head prosecutor of the Institutional Violence Prosecutor’s Office (Procuvin) after being appointed by former prosecutor Alejandra Gils Carbó. She was removed from that position during the government of Mauricio Macri, at which time she became a member of the Office of the Legislative Liaison of the Attorney General.

As head of the Anti-Corruption Office, he took several measures that sparked controversy. The last one was in the middle of this 2022, when he resigned as a plaintiff in the Road case, where Cristina Kirchner was recently convicted. The other state complaint, in charge of the Financial Information Unit, was also dropped from the process and the Prosecutor’s Office became the only accuser that the defendants had. “The OA has among its functions the prevention of corruption and the investigation; His ability to litigate was overstated during the Cambiemos administration”, it was argued at the time.
