Square Enix will change its strategy regarding its big releases in order to launch them more regularly. Will this have an impact on FF7 Remake 2 as some fans on social media are already hoping?
The month of June will be placed under the sign of Final Fantasy 16. The sixteenth numbered episode of the legendary license will return in a completely different form: pure action-RPG. Its detractors are still waiting to be reassured about the role-playing game sidelined throughout the game’s communication. Others are simply waiting to be able to find Cloud and his gang in FF7 Remake 2, aka Rebirth. They will however have to wait until the release of FF16 to have news of the sequel. The wait shouldn’t be endless, and it would be the same for Kingdom Hearts 4.
A new strategy at Square Enix, an impact on FF7 Remake 2?
FF7 Remake 2 will reappear only when the time is right. We suspect that Square Enix will be more generous after the release of Final Fantasy 16 on June 22 and that communication around the second part of this new trilogy will accelerate as its release approaches. We remind you that its launch window is, for the moment, still fixed for this winter, between the end of December 2023 and the end of March 2024. It was at this stage taken for granted that FF7 Rebirth will be in our hands rather in March, however the latest statements from Square Enix have left doubts in the minds of many players, and wrongly so.
Faced with the failure of The prophesied and a schedule of releases that are too scattered, the Japanese publisher wants to change its way of doing things in the medium/long term. The idea would then be to have a constant schedule of “ games with global appeal by launching its major titles more regularly and with a shorter interval. The entire development process will also be reviewed to ” to improve the quality of the productions in question. At the same time, Square Enix is looking to better stabilize its revenue. This will obviously go through Final Fantasy 14 and a strategy to increase its number of subscribers in order to ensure a constant cash flow which will then be reinvested in the development of its flagship games.
Hope for Kingdom Hearts 4
So no, it will change absolutely nothing for FF7 Remake 2, which would be at this stage already well advanced. Sorry for our friends across the Atlantic who had false hope. It is on the other hand on the side of the conclusion of this new trilogy (still unnamed), of Kingdom Hearts 4 or even of Dragon Quest 12 that will have to be looked at.
If Square Enix really manages to apply this new strategy, then it could be that the launch window between each of these games is not as far apart as usual. It remains to be seen if the Japanese publisher includes its games ” premium thought for the blockchain in the lot. Square Enix still does not budge and indicates in its financial results that it wants to increase its investments in this area.
