Filming of the third season of Euphoria begins in January

HBO confirms delay in filming the third season of Euphoria

MIAMI.- The fans of the serie Euphoria have received good news after a long wait. The filming of the third season The series begins in January, three years after the end of the second installment of the production starring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney y Hunter Schafer.

The information was recently confirmed by HBO through their social networks.

“The third season of the HBO original series, Euphoria, “goes into production January 2025,” reads the caption accompanying an image of Zendaya playing Rue Bennett.

The platform’s message comes four months after a rumour raised alarm bells about the possible cancellation of the series. However, a spokesperson confirmed at the time that there was a delay in production, but that it had not been cancelled.

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an outstanding third season,” the HBO source told Variety.

He also noted that due to the delay, the show’s talent had been allowed to fulfill other professional commitments.

Causes of delay

It is believed that the reason production did not resume earlier was because Levinson had not finished writing the script for the third season. However, it is also rumored that Angus Cloud’s death was a major factor in the continuation of the story.

In this sense, the 2023 strike of screenwriters and actors influenced the activation of the project, whose third season was confirmed in February 2023.

Major production figures such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo and Hunter Schafer have made their way into Hollywood, and in recent months they have been on tour with the film productions in which they have participated.

It is not clear whether the failure of The Idol may have influenced and discouraged Levinson from continuing with the script.

Euphoria premiered successfully in 2019, and the second season of the series was released in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Levinson subsequently shared two specials that focused on the characters of Rue and Jules to keep fans in suspense.
