Marcel Sabitzer didn’t need a long period of adjustment at Manchester United. Coach Erik ten Hag trusted the midfielder in the starting XI three times in a row. Sabitzer consultant Roger Wittmann says to ‘Sport1’: “Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly.”
Wittman explains: “Anyone who has as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, doesn’t take long to find your way around a club like this and in a league like this. […] At Manchester United we now see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him.”
20 million?
At FC Bayern, Sabitzer was only in demand as a substitute in the weeks before his loan. The 28-year-old will now appear on the island until the summer. “He loves this English hardness”Wittmann knows: “It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there.”
It is possible that Sabitzer’s qualities in Manchester will also be in demand beyond the summer. According to reports, 20 million euros is the transfer fee in Munich – the Bavarians themselves had once paid 15 million to RB Leipzig. But a decision will be a long time coming, according to Sabitzer’s agent: “We’ll see when the time comes.”
