Flight delays and cancellations make return difficult

Severe storms caused hundreds of flight delays and cancellations at LaGuardia and Kennedy airports as New Yorkers tried to return home from the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Those who took flights during the weekend and tried to avoid bad weather both at the beginning and at the end to reach their destinations on time. And some were lucky.

According to Triple A, more than 43 million people traveled 50 miles or more over the weekend.

Most had to deal with adverse weather conditions at the beginning of their trip and at the end.

According to the TSA, five of the ten busiest travel days occurred in the last two weeks.

The busiest day in its 22-year history was Friday, with a record 2.95 million passengers screened at TSA checkpoints.
