Gasoline prices hit 2023 lowest point in Florida just as Thanksgiving approaches,
Last Sunday, the average price of gasoline in the state stood at $3.04 per gallon, 15 cents less than last week and the lowest daily average since the end of December 2022, according to a report from the American Automobile Association ( AAA) quoted by local media.
Also, prices are 37 cents compared to last Thanksgiving.
More than half of Florida’s gas stations have gas prices below $3 a gallon, said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.
“While there could be some fluctuations in the coming weeks, AAA expects gas prices to remain low through the holidays unless oil prices rise suddenly,” Jenkins estimates.
The drop in prices is related to the drop in the price of oil, which stood at $72 a barrel last week.
In mid-September, Gasoline prices were at $3.69 per gallon.largely due to the cut in crude oil production by some members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Florida drivers were paying about $55 that month to fill up an average-sized tank, about three dollars less than in the summer.
At the most critical time of the year the price per gallon stood at $3.85.
Gasoline prices soared in Florida over the summeralthough the reason had nothing to do with the stifling heat of the summer season, according to authorities on the matter.
At the end of July, retail gasoline costs in Florida hit the highest levels since the summer began, as the state average rose nearly 30 cents per gallon in the final two weeks of the month.
According to AAA, the cause was the rise in the price of a barrel of oil in the United States.
