Ever since Dmitry Rogozin left the Russian space agency Roskosmos, there has been no stopping him. Now the politician, who is loyal to the Kremlin, has openly questioned the US manned moon landings.

In the first few weeks after the start of the invasion of Russian combat units in the Ukraine, the then Roskosmos boss attracted attention with violent attacks against the western cooperation partners. Apparently that was too much for even the leadership in Moscow and Rogozin was removed from the post. Since then, the politician has mainly stayed behind the Ukraine front and shone with nationalist postings on his Telegram channel.

on this one he threw (via Ars Technica) now also the question of the moon landing. During his four-year tenure at Roskosmos, he asked his leadership team to verify that NASA actually landed a dozen astronauts on the moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Finally, according to Rogozin, “I didn’t see how the United States, with the level of technological development in the 1960s, could do something that it can’t do today.”

Subordinates reacted angrily

Instead of factual answers, he only received angry reactions from the scientists at the space agency. They accused him of undermining cooperation with the US space agency on the International Space Station. As proof of the landing, he was only handed a copy of a book by cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.

Accordingly, his conclusion is that the Americans never landed on the moon, but that they managed to infiltrate the “establishment” of the Russian space program. The former head of one of the largest space organizations in the world is thus only moving at a level known from otherworldly conspiracy mystics.

For all the rivalry, serious researchers in Russia have no doubts about the landings. Because at that time the Soviet Union was easily able to follow the journey of the Apollo spaceships by radar. Furthermore, even at that time, a probe was in use in lunar orbit, which also picked up signals from human activities on site. And to this day, the debris left on the lunar surface can be found – particularly mirrors left behind by Apollo teams to allow accurate measurements of distances from Earth.

Summary

  • Dmitri Rogozin, former head of Roscosmos, questions moon landings.
  • During tenure at Roskosmos: checking whether NASA landed on the moon.
  • Conclusion: NASA was never on the moon, Russian space program infiltrated.
  • With serious researchers in Russia no doubt about landings.
  • Radar tracking of the Apollo spacecraft, probe in lunar orbit.
  • Mirrors used by Apollo teams to measure distances from Earth.
