With his comrade Michel Leeb, the actor is promoting the new play The pigeons which they share the poster at the Théâtre des Nouveaux in Paris. The show is held from January 20 to May 14, 2023. At the microphone of the show, Francis Huster notably returned to a dispute with his father when he joined the conservatory at the age of 15.

As Isabelle Morizet mentioned, Francis Huster’s father slapped him and they didn’t speak to each other for four yearsuntil the young man joined the Comédie-Française in 1971 thanks to Pierre Dux who was the general administrator and that his father “loved very much during the war” from 1939-1945. It was notably at the Comédie-Française that Francis Huster met André Dussollier and a certain Isabelle Adjani with whom he was in a relationship. This one had very quickly left the Comédie-Française to embark on a career in cinema.

“People don’t understand what an actor is”
However, for Francis Huster at the start, it was not won. Indeed, his father was totally against the idea of his son making a career in comedy. “At that time, in our families, either you became a pianist, or you became a doctor, or you became a lawyer. The profession of actor was not considered at all in France unlike in England, for example. It was considered a disrespectful job and it continues in France! People don’t understand what a comedian is“, he admits. All this does not prevent him from defending this beautiful profession which is close to his heart: “Being an actor is a virtuosity. It’s not at all to learn texts.” And to add: “It’s a wonderful job, and what’s more, it’s at risk. You have to fight every day and then, above all, to finish, it’s a job to share.”
