Free food for teens and kids during the summer

The Summer Meals program provides free nutritious meals to children under 18 during this holiday season, when teenagers and children are not in school.

The assistance, available in our city, helps parents with the cost of food for their children, who during the school months depend on the food served in educational centers.

And to help us understand how it works, we are joined on Community Dialogue by Wilson Camelo, spokesperson for the Northeast American Dairy Association, which supports the cause by providing dairy nutrition, such as milk, yogurt, cheese and other products.

1. Explain to us what the Summer Meals program consists of.

2. Tell us how families benefit. How can they access free food?

3. And until when can they benefit? Where can they get more information?

4. Wilson, how did this initiative to distribute free breakfast and lunch on such a large scale come about? How urgent is the need for food for New York families with school-aged children?

5. From the association you represent, how do you support this program?
