The Dortmund police report illegal car races almost every day – not only with classic “Raser-Karren”. Dozens of drivers were noticed several times.
The balance sheet of Dortmund police is frightening: 30 accidents in illegal car racing there was 2022 in the city and on the motorways in the catchment area of the Dortmund police. There are reports of suspected races in Dortmund almost every day, and the trend is rising.
Accidents and excuses at illegal races in Dortmund:
guilty the perpetrators rarely give themselves. Like a young man from Dortmund (23) who, in a race at 90 (30 allowed) over the Ostwall flew: he was “quite relaxed” drove over the wall and “just stepped on the gas a bit,” the police write. But not only classic hp cars, luxury cars or high-powered Golf GTIs attract the attention of the Dortmund police with races. Sometimes (but much less often) are too harmless small car like in December: On the wall, a civilian patrol pulled a speeding Renault Clio out of circulation.

For the Chief Police Director Ralf Ziegler one thing is certain: “Anyone who takes part in a prohibited race shows no respect for life of people, and no respect for the feelings of loved ones who are dealing with the death of a loved one.”
By the way: if the police suspect an illegal race, they don’t just pull that Driver’s license of the speedsters. Also their cars and the cell phones of all occupants are confiscated in order to obtain evidence of the offenses from vehicle data or videos. And no matter how high that is judgment of the court fails in the end: The road traffic office can always check whether race participants are “suitable for driving a motor vehicle”. Then the rag is quickly gone – and it goes to He is an idiot (MPU).
