The fuel allowance of 100 euros, which aims to replace discounts at the pumps, is paid from this Friday. Seven million motorists can still request it.

The French who have requested it will receive their fuel allowance of 100 euros from this Friday, January 27. Set up on January 16, this aid aims to help 10 million French workers who have no choice but to use their vehicle in a professional setting.

Presented as an “after-rebate”, it follows on from the discounts at the pumps which for nine months provided aid on the price of fuel. This new subsidy is a more targeted measure. The fuel allowance, however, was only claimed by 3 million people, according to Bruno Le Maire.

According to the Minister of the Economy, 70% of people who would be entitled to it have not yet requested it. “Seven million can still request it,” he said on Europe 1 on Tuesday. Two criteria must be met: use a vehicle (car or two-wheeler) to go to work and have a reference tax income per share less than or equal to 14,700 euros annually.

Until February 28 to apply

The workers concerned will be able to make their request until February 28 by going to the tax site. They must then enter their tax number, their license plate and complete a sworn statement indicating that they need their car to get to work.

“The system is extremely simple, I have had no negative feedback from those who have gone to register on the site of the General Directorate of Public Finances, but there are people who do not come to seek this aid, I tell them to go do it, it is a support for purchasing power”, indicated Bruno Le Maire.

As a reminder, the allowance is paid per individual and not per household, which means that it can be requested by two members of the same modest couple who need their own vehicle to work.
