The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has been made official. The graphics card we knew as the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB is back, at a more competitive price.
NVIDIA is definitely the market leader in graphics cards, that’s an undeniable fact. When you look at the raw performance of the freshly released GeForce RTX 4090, its movement towards ray-tracing that has influenced the entire industry, or its innovations on DLSS… It’s hard to deny it. But here it is: this position is not necessarily sustainable, and everything can change in 5 seconds on this very volatile market.
While AMD is becoming ever more attractive with its latest Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX, the green team is encountering some image problems. We have the power connectors melting from its latest graphics card, or the fingers pointing at it when we talk about excessive energy consumption… But what really bothered us was the announcement of the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB .

Why are you talking about all this again? Quite simply because during CES 2023, NVIDIA finally officially unveiled its new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. Which is simply… the previously canceled GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB, which is entitled to a new name for a range more readable by the general public. Don’t take that as a criticism, however, since the card still looks great on paper.
We can always count on 7680 CUDA cores for a 2.61GHz boost frequencyand 12 GB of GDDR6X on a 192-bit memory interface. The most interesting in this new announcement is the price placement of this “new” GPU. Where the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB was announced at 899 dollars, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is placed here at 799 dollars. This comes back at 899 euros in France, where the graphics card will be available from January 5, 2023. Note that there will be no Founders-edition for this card, which will be fully managed by the manufacturer’s partners.
The original debate was that the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB was simply not the same card as a regular RTX 4080 16 GB, and therefore served to mislead consumers. Nvidia changed plans and launched this 4070 Ti version much earlier than usual, before we even got to see the classic 4070. As a bonus, he finally offers us a small rebate to smooth things over. Will this be enough for consumers to forgive this discrepancy? The most pressing thing is above all for Nvidia to avoid creating the slightest flaw whileAMD and its Radeons only ask for a small breach to interfere in his affairs.
