GEW Chair: Better combine teacher training and legal clerkship
Maike Finnern warns: “Young, dedicated teachers in particular will otherwise burn out quickly”
Osnabruck. GEW chairwoman Maike Finnern suggests combining studies and traineeship more closely in teacher training. In an interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ), Finnern said that one could “reconsider an apprenticeship that better combines studies and traineeship”. In addition, one can make it easier to get into everyday school life “by not immediately confronting young teachers with a large number of lessons that they have to teach without the support of an experienced teacher”. Finnern warned: “Particularly young, dedicated teachers burn out quickly.”
