Mexico City.- Gloria Trevi officially sued Chumel Torres for moral damages regarding messages on social networks in which she refers to the issue of human trafficking, related to the case in which the woman from Monterrey was accused and acquitted more than 20 years ago.
Sergio Arturo Ramírez, Trevi’s legal representative in Mexico, went this morning to the civil courts of the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City (TSJCDMX) to present the document in which he expressed his disagreement, with a complaint, and a request for an amount for damage, against the communicator who has not given an official response on the subject.
“This is against the notable events that have been occurring regarding the mentions that this character has been carrying out against Mrs. Gloria Trevi.
“The moral damage has an effect in which it has an economic quantification for the damages that it has caused to the lady. Especially for the sponsorships that it has lost as a result of these mentions that it has been unfoundedly carrying out,” said the lawyer. .
After a process of about 20 minutes, to present the document in the Oficialía de Partes of the Court of Justice of Mexico City, the representative, said in an interview with the media, that it is a civil lawsuit with the demand for damage reparation , and for an amount that will be estimated within the process and granted by a judge.
He considered that there could be a conciliation meeting, but that if it is exposed by the defense that there could be a public apology, that would be at the discretion of the accused.
And he stressed the importance of the fact that in the matter that became media, in which Sergio Andrade and other girls, led by the interpreter of “Todos Me Miran”, she was acquitted of the accusations and there was no legal precedent to justify the attacks in his against.
“It must be remembered that Mrs. Gloria Trevi has been acquitted of a process in which she should never have been involved, a process that took place with her arrest in Brazil and which ends with her in the courts here, in Chihuahua, and before which she is completely acquitted, it is not determined that she has carried out any type of illegal conduct.
The lawsuits, both in Mexico and in the United States, that La Trevi has filed with her attackers, are supported by the fact that mentions of the case have made her the victim of losses due to possible sponsorship contracts.
“There is a certain secrecy that we are keeping in a circumstance that exists in the United States, that as we well know, there is a lawsuit against Mrs. Gloria Trevi today, but there is also a lawsuit in the US against a television station, a demands that Mrs. Gloria Trevi has been winning in all instances and that the American court has already accepted that an amount greater than 180 million dollars be taken to Court, which is the damage that the American court is estimating to be, within the probative value, for the trial”.
And of two characters who sued her last December, she declined to give more details because she says that the process requires secrecy and criteria to provide information.
To conclude, the lawyer Sergio Arturo Ramirez, said that the freedom of expression of a communicator ends when an attempt is made against the moral and physical damage of a person with unsubstantiated facts.
“It has not been a comment, there have been many, it is depopulated, like she managed a network of trafficking in minors, that they are false, that they are uncertain, that they are isolated from reality, while she is acquitted, it was not even that has given results, serving a sentence. The lady is not, nor has she been responsible for any type of criminal conduct.
“These media that attack unpopulated areas and that attack children, the media, artists, women, with aggression, with this type of mention, with this type of mention, affects their heritage, their family affection, their moral affection. They cause terrible damage to the family, to society, in general,” the lawyer concluded.
