Godzilla Minus One maintains box office dominance in Japan

Godzilla Minus One remained in first place at the Japanese box office for the third weekend in a row.

After 17 days in theaters, the film has grossed more than 2.85 billion yen (about US$19.22 million) and 1.84 million tickets sold.

The film premiered in Japanese cinemas on November 3. In the first weekend, the production sold 640 thousand tickets and grossed 1.04 billion yen (about US$6.95 million).

The collection was 22.8% higher than the opening box office of Shin Godzillafilms by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) e Shinji Higuchilaunched in 2016.

Produced by Toho, Godzilla Minus One opens in Brazilian cinemas on December 14thdistributed by Sato Company.

The New Empire, by director Adam Wingard, is scheduled for release on April 12, 2024.
