For years, Uber has interfered in our daily lives. To get around, going through the application to order an Uber has almost become a reflex for some users. While booking a ride is easy enough, planning a ride for your friend, relative or co-worker is a lot less so.

No more battery, application not downloaded or problem entering the means of payment… You may have already had to order an Uber from a loved one so that he can get home safely. But until now, it was unnecessarily complicated. By ordering from your smartphone, you had to explain the situation to the driver to avoid misunderstandings. Also, you couldn’t order a ride home yourself until your friend got home.

Good news, Uber is fixing this problem right now by launching a brand new feature. Indeed, “Guest Rider” allows you to order an Uber for a loved one from your phone. It is certain, it will greatly simplify the life of the users of the application. To go even further, you can even set the race for your friend.

How to order an Uber for your loved ones?

With “Guest Rider”, everything is simple. To book a race for your loved ones from your smartphone, just open your application. Click on the search bar on the homepage “Where are you going ?” then press the tab “For me” on the top corner left. You then have the possibility of adding a passenger among your contacts or directly adding the number and identity of this new passenger. Only the first and last name of your relative will be communicated to the driver for the race, in order to avoid any confusion. Your friend’s phone number remains anonymous for added security.

Once you’ve added a passenger, you can choose a ride for yourself or a third-party passenger. For the rest, you know the song. As usual, you can enter the pick-up location and the destination. It is even possible to add one or more stops.

If your loved one does not have the Uber application, all the information about their trip is sent to them by SMS: license plate, driver’s name, vehicle, waiting time. When needed, the third-party rider and Uber driver can communicate via text message and don’t need you to be the messenger. As for you, you can follow the route in real time from the application to make sure that your friend has returned home safely.

The launch of the “Guest Rider” feature is a real relief for platform users who have been asking for it for a while.

Order an Uber for a third party:

  • Launch the Uber app
  • Click on “Where are you going?” and plan your race
  • Tap the “For Me” tab in the top left
  • Add a new passenger
  • Order the race as usual
