Formerly exclusively reserved for Google Pixel smartphones, the Magic Eraser function is now available on Android smartphones and iPhone via the Google Photos application. So how do you use this handy clipping tool?

This is good news for all app users. Google Photos. The Mountain View company has deployed the Magic Eraser function (in addition to a collage editor and a new HDR effect) on iPhone and Android, in addition to Pixels, which were already supported. How to use it ?

How to use Magic Eraser on Google Photos?

It can be frustrating to be sure you’ve taken the perfect shot, only to discover unwanted people or objects in the background. Magic Eraser detects these objects in your photos, such as photobombs or power lines, so you can remove them with just a few clicks. You can also circle or brush other elements that you want to erase.

If you have a Google Pixel smartphone or if you have an iPhone or Android smartphone with a Google One subscription, the Magic Eraser feature can be found within the Google Photos app.

  1. Open the Google Photos app.
  2. Select an image.
  3. Press on Edit located in the lower menu, then on Tools.
  4. Select magic eraser and wait, Google Photos will analyze the image.
  5. Select Erase all si the result satisfies you.
  6. If not, you can choose to manually delete the objects of your choice.

Which smartphones are compatible with the Magic Eraser function of Google Photos?

Here is the list of smartphones compatible with this Magic Eraser feature:

  • Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 7
  • Google Pixel 5 and older models
  • Android and iPhone smartphones with Google One subscription.
