Green liquid floods the floor of Terminal G at Miami International Airport

MIAMI.- A leak of a green liquid spilled from the ceiling of Terminal G at Miami International Airport, flooded the entire floor of one of the corridors where passengers circulate on July 4, one of the busiest days at the important terminal in Florida.

“We would like to thank our passengers in Terminal G for their patience and understanding this morning,” an MIA spokesperson said via social media X.

According to the spokesperson, the incident was reported at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, and “crews were immediately dispatched to investigate and it was determined that the leaking fluid was not dangerous.”

“Maintenance staff normally inject dye into cold water pipes to easily detect minor leaks. This fluid does not pose any threat to passengers,” the spokesman explained.

He later said that the clean-up tasks were completed in an hour and a half.

MIA is undergoing a renovation process that will cost more than $1.7 billion. South Florida’s largest air terminal is renovating its restrooms, elevators, escalators, boarding bridges, and the Skytrain line. It is also expanding its central terminal, which is more than 70 years old.
