During his visit to Sincelejo, Sucre, President Gustavo Petro referred to the revelations made by his son in the Prosecutor’s Office, where he accepted the alleged entry of irregular money to his campaign on the way to reach the presidency.
In a dialogue with peasants from the Caribbean region and where the president arrived again later than expected, he assured that he would not be able to comment in depth on the judicial situation because there were no further details and that he was not going to interfere in the process, although He stated that all the accusations were lies.

“If that were true, this president had to leave today because I am not Uribe, I am not Santos, I am not Duque, I am none of those who have passed. I come from a different way of understanding things, but we come from something different, from another story, from another reality and from another sensibility,” said the president.
Gustavo Petro’s message to his son
Referring to his son Nicolás, the president assured that “he has never requested the crime, neither to finance campaigns, nor for anything that has to do with power. My children have been free ”, although from the versions known in the judicial proceeding he hinted that his son is being pressured to say things.
“My son will see, the only thing I can recommend is that from dignity tell the truth. Never kneel to the executioner, ”he emphasized.

Then, Gustavo Petro questioned those who are asking that he be removed from office given the alleged “illegitimacy” of his mandate due to the accusations. «It was my people who elected me, I owe no one else the election, it is the people I must answer to. You can be sure that this government is ended by popular mandate, by no one else, there is no one who can end this government other than the people themselves and the people themselves gave an order by majority at the polls, we are leaving until next year 2026».
And he added “Of course they have tried to use the family scars, they have tried to use all the weaknesses, to try to open the way for the collapse of the first popular government in Colombia.”
