Bang & Olufsen has unveiled its latest portable speaker, the Beosound A5, designed by Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi. The speaker’s appearance is inspired, among other things, by Panama hats and hand-woven leather details on Danish furniture from the 1960s, hence the similarities to a picnic basket.

Beosound A5 is IP65 rated, which means it is dustproof and splashproof. As long as you don’t take it with you when you take a swim, it should fit perfectly with the beach pendant. The portable speaker has a battery life of twelve hours, and it also has a wireless charger on top, should the phone start to run low.

The actual sound in the speaker is produced by four interconnected amplifiers with an output of 280 watts. The speaker also supports Mozart software, and via it you can connect two Beosound A5s for stereo sound.

However, two Beosound A5 will be a rather expensive story. The Beosound A5 is available from today in two colors, either with a lighter woven casing and metal details in aluminium, or with a darker oak color on the casing and with metal details colored like black anthracite. The price tag ends up at SEK 10,599 and SEK 11,699 respectively.
