The formation of Nicola Sirkis made it known on social networks that it did not wish to perform if the demonstration took place in the city managed by Louis Aliot.
The Indochine group, scheduled for July 8 at the Festival Les Déferlantes, threatens to cancel its visit if the event, which is to be held in Perpignan, does not move “to another place”. In question: the city of Pyrénées-Orientales is managed by Louis Aliot, a figure of the National Rally.
“Yesterday morning, we were faced with the fait accompli, that the Festival Les Déferlantes, where we are scheduled on July 8, moved to Perpignan instead of the site initially planned”, deplores the formation on Twitter and Facebook, while the festival was to take place in Céret in the same department.
“Last night, the RN mayor of Perpignan tweeted that he was happy to host the Festival Les Déferlantes”, continues the group, before formulating its ultimatum: “We expressly ask the management of Les Déferlantes to move this festival to a another place, otherwise we will cancel our visit.”
Contacted by The IndependentFabrice Lorente, co-director of Frontera Production, which produces and organizes Les Déferlantes, refused to comment on the case: “At this stage, we take note of their decision to condition their arrival”.
Improving “comfort”
The decision to change location from the town of Céret to the city of Perpignan was taken by the organizers to improve the “comfort” of the festival-goers and to adapt to the “ambitions of the festival”, specifies a press release from the direction of the festival.
“Les Déferlantes therefore give you an appointment in Perpignan, on the edge of the Têt, facing the Canigou, in front of an exhibition center that the regulars will not recognize as our scenography efforts will be increased tenfold”, explains the press release.
Indochine is one of the headliners of the festival, which will also welcome Shaka Ponk, David Guetta, Bigflo & Oli, Soprano, David Guetta and Sting.
