The good news at the start of the year? You had to look for them in the media with a magnifying glass…
And also at Samuel Cook (35) and his mother Marion (59) initially started with dark clouds in 2023. Drama about a protégé of the two!
Last spring, Samuel Koch’s committed mother and helpers brought a convoy with disabled people – including many children – from the war zone in Ukraine to Germany on their own.
Since then, the Kochs and the association “Samuel Koch and Friends” have been working with great commitment for the refugees, including in Bad Bellingen (Baden-Württemberg), where they have restored a house that was ready for demolition in order to give those who need help a safe home .
In the summer then a first little miracle of tears. The blind Ukrainian Alla (32) gives birth to a healthy girl in Germany.
Because her husband Alex (45, in a wheelchair for 23 years) lacks the strength to be present during the strenuous birth, Marion Koch accompanies the heavily pregnant woman in the last few days before the birth until the little girl is born. Mama Alla then called the little one with a middle name directly after the “draw-grandma” – “Marion”.
But now the big worries and a drama for the New Year!
Marion Koch to BILD: “Alla fell into a coma after a diabetic shock.”
Samuel spoke to Instagram after New Year’s Eve, also showed a short video (with the family’s permission) of Alla in the clinic, wrote: “If you currently have a prayer with all the severity, please do – thank you!”
Marion: “We hoped and believed in it.” That Alla would soon be better again. And a small miracle happened in the last few days. The condition of the young mother has stabilized. Samuel: “After there was little hope for Alla, her health has improved.”
And again the trained intensive care nurse Marion made a small contribution to this. Together with other nurses, she stayed with Alla and massaged her until the coma patient showed the first small reactions and the ventilation tube could then be removed.
Great luck: Alla woke up from the coma on Thursday! Samuel Koch is very relieved: “My heart is jumping, thank God!”
Now the helpers hope that things will continue to improve. But they also need help.
Marion Koch: “Alla will need a sensor and a pump in the future to be able to control her sugar levels and will need to be looked after in the hospital for some time to come. We are grateful to everyone who supports our work here.”
