Messi again out of an MLS game

The task that Gerardo Martino faces is not easy at all. The technical director of Inter Miami will have to face the following dates of the local league without two of its main figures in Lionel Messi and Luis Suarezwhich were transferred to their respective teams for the celebration of the America Cup in just a few days.

It is true that “Tata” is not the only coach who will have to deal with casualties. On FIFA dates, clubs are forced to let go of players called up by their national teams and there is nothing they can do about it. But for an institution like the one in South Florida, which prior to Messi’s arrival in the middle of last year was in darkness, it can be much more complex to maintain the level in times like this.

So, does Inter Miami have the necessary depth to maintain first place in the Eastern Conference table in MLS without Messi and Suárez, who could be absent for up to six games? The answer seems to be yes.

The duo of Leonardo Campana and Jordi Alba has been giving a lot to talk about in recent times and promises to become much more important in the days to come.

Campana, a 23-year-old Ecuadorian attacker, has scored four goals and recorded six assists in 16 games. Likewise, the young player has stood out in the club’s recent practices, especially after scoring two impressive goals that came with passes from Alba.

Without Messi and Suárez, who have combined for 24 goals and 18 assists this season, Campana remains Martino’s main attacker. The finishing ability of the Ecuadorian, who was excluded from his national team’s call for the Copa América, shows his current confidence and the chemistry that he has managed to create in the team, particularly with Alba.

Inter Miami is very aware of the importance that Campana will assume soon and has been responsible for giving the young figure a lot of publicity on its social networks. And as the team prepares to continue the battle without the star who revolutionized the institution, the fans are looking forward to more magic from their new golden duo.

Asking a player who is just beginning to build his professional history to fill the shoes of two of the best attackers in the history of South American football would be crazy. But Martino and Miami can take solace that the times without depth seem to be in the past.
