Ukraine and Hungary reaffirm their desire for understanding

Los The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, Dmitró Kuleba and Péter Szijjártó, met in Washington on Wednesday to discuss new joint steps to develop bilateral relations, in the first meeting between leaders of both countries since the controversial visit to Moscow by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

“I have informed Peter of the situation at the front and of the preparations for the second Peace Summit,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba wrote on his X account.

Kuleba was referring to the second edition of the international summit promoted by kyiv, which was held without Russian presence in Switzerland in the middle of last month. A hundred countries and international organisations spoke at the meeting about Ukraine’s demands for an end to the war.

kyiv has assured that Russia could be invited to the second edition of the summitand Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Orbán to get involved in organising this event when the Hungarian prime minister visited Ukraine days before meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

“In this context, I have stressed that No peace initiative can be based on Russian narratives,” Kuleba wrote about his meeting with Szijjártó in his message to X.
