During the inauguration of the Central de Abasto Health Center (Ceda) in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office, he recalled a documentary made by the filmmaker Michael Moore, in which he explains how the national health service of England works and that, according to him, it is free, universal and of quality.
Then, the former Morenista senator compared the Mexican system with the English one:
“When the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began… Seguro Popular disappeared because it charged; because, in addition, it subrogated services to private ones, it was not a public health service and a transition began. What is our National Health Service going to be like the one the British have? The IMSS-Well-being ”, he said.
He added that, like the CDMX health service, the new Ceda Health Center will be part of the IMSS-Bienestar.
The entire health service for the population – open – is the IMSS-Bienestar. So, ‘I don’t have IMSS, I don’t have ISSSTE, I don’t have ISSFAM; I have IMSS-Well-being’. You only need one requirement to have IMSS-Well-being: to be a person, period. And with that, you can access the services of the IMSS-Bienestar, that is the objective, ”he added.
Batres Guadarrama added that, in meetings with President López Obrador, he has informed them about the progress of the conversion process, which includes the completion of some 300 hospitals “abandoned by past administrations… We are going to have a lot of new hospitals.”
At 90%, medicines in CDMX
The head of government, Martí Batres, assured that, as part of the federal government’s support for the health system in CDMX, they have received new equipment and a supply of medicines.
“With the data that Dr. Oliva (López) gives us, we have a supply, in Health Centers and hospitals, between 90 and 95 percent, which is magnificent news for the beneficiaries of health services in Mexico City, “he said.
In that supply, he added, “there was a reorganization, there was a monopoly on the purchases and sales of medicines and that was reorganized so that monopolistic businesses were not carried out at the expense of the health of Mexicans. And we already have a healthy supply, fortunately”.
